Thousands of students now qualify for Canada Express Entry thanks to relaxation by the Canadian government. Students who enrolled in Canadian universities during the epidemic were required to finish their coursework online. Now, these individuals are qualified to gain points for their Canadian educational credentials.

In the past, candidates who sought online education did not receive any points for their CRS score if they finished more than 50% of the program online.

For students who finished their coursework online between March 2020 and August 2022, a temporary relaxation has been put in place. Students whose programs might get CRS points are:

  • Completed online
  • Outside of Canada
  • Through part-time courses
In order to give themselves the best chance of getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the upcoming Express Entry draw, aspirants have been asked by IRCC to update their Express Entry profiles by August 2.

How to apply for Canada PR?

Now that you are aware of the importance of Canadian PR status, let's examine how PR works in Canada. The PR procedure in Canada can seem a bit complex. As long as they meet the standards for Canada PR and their existing situation, people can attempt a variety of options.

Some of the Canadian PR procedures are listed below:

1. Canadian Experience Class

Under the Express Entry immigration procedure, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program is administered. Additionally, it is among the quickest ways to obtain Canadian citizenship. Your eligibility for this program is determined by a number of variables, including your age, language ability, and educational background.

A minimum of 12 months of uninterrupted, full-time, skilled work experience in Canada must have been accrued by applicants within the previous three years, or an equivalent amount of part-time experience. For a foreign student who has acquired some work experience, the CEC can be a fantastic immigration alternative.

Work experience acquired during a full-time school period is not taken into account for calculating the 12-month requirement. International students thus are unable to fulfill the CEC requirement using work experience earned while enrolled in their studies.

2. Federal Skilled Worker Program

The Express Entry immigration system also governs the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program. Therefore, for certain graduates of overseas students, this can be a terrific alternative. Unlike the Canadian Experience Class, FSW does not require prior Canadian employment (CEC). As a result, it offers international student graduates who have obtained relevant work experience elsewhere a feasible alternative.

Only the most competitive profiles are asked to apply for permanent residency under the merit-based FSW program, which employs a points-based Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score to compare candidates.

FSW can be a great way to obtain permanent residency if you are an international student who satisfies the eligibility requirements and has a fairly competitive profile in the CRS score system.

3. Provincial Nominee Programs

The provinces and territories of Canada each administer immigration schemes known as provincial nominee programs (PNPs). Depending on the provinces or territories, the PNP programs operate differently. Many PNPs give preference to candidates who have ties to the province, such as previous studies or employment there. Depending on the province where their program of study was finished, overseas students may be qualified to apply for a PNP in that province.

4. Post-Graduation Work Permits

Actually, a Post-Graduation Work visa is a side route to permanent residence. After completing their studies at a DLI, the majority of overseas students are permitted to remain in Canada and find employment with any Canadian employer. Through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or a Provincial Nominee Program supported by an employer, this experience may help a person qualify for permanent residency in Canada (PNP).

Each of the above immigration categories issues Canadian PR visas but conducts regular Express Entry draws. Recently Canada resumed all its federal programs for immigration, making this the best time to apply for permanent residence.
