Dreaming of moving to Canada from UAE?
Many professionals, skilled workers, and families see Canada as a land of opportunity, offering a high quality of life, excellent healthcare, and top-notch education. But before you can make your Canadian dream a reality, you need to score well in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to secure an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
Check Your Eligibility for Canada PR Visa
The CRS score is a crucial part of Canada’s Express Entry system. It evaluates your profile based on factors like age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and more. If your CRS score isn’t quite hitting the mark, don’t worry - there are ways to boost it! Here's how you can improve your score and enhance your chances of immigrating successfully.
One of the quickest ways to increase your CRS score is by improving your English or French skills. The higher your score on the IELTS (for English) or TEF (for French), the better your chances. If you scored lower than CLB 9 in any module (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking), consider retaking the IELTS classes for Canada - or TEF after some focused preparation. Even a small improvement can add valuable points.
For example, Abhishek, a software engineer from Dubai, initially scored CLB 7 in IELTS, which gave him a modest CRS score. After three months of dedicated English coaching, he improved his scores to CLB 9, adding almost 50 extra points to his profile. That increase was enough to get him an ITA in the next Express Entry draw!
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are a game-changer. If you receive a nomination from a Canadian province, you get an additional 600 points, which almost guarantees an ITA.
How to Get a PNP?
If you have less than three years of skilled work experience, gaining additional experience can improve your CRS score. Canadian work experience is even more valuable, so consider options like a work permit or studying in Canada to gain local experience.
A higher education level can significantly boost your CRS score. If you have a bachelor’s degree, consider completing a master’s degree or diploma. Get your educational credentials assessed by WES (World Education Services) or a similar agency. You can also consider adding a one-year diploma or certification related to your field.
Canada values bilingual immigrants, and knowing French can be a major advantage. Even if French isn’t your first language, scoring CLB 7 or higher in TEF can add up to 50 extra points. You can take basic French classes, practice daily, and aim for a decent TEF score.
If you’re married, your spouse’s skills can contribute to your CRS score. If they have strong language scores or additional work experience, their profile can add extra points. Check if your spouse can improve their IELTS or TEF scores. If your spouse has a higher CRS score than you, consider making them the primary applicant.
Age plays a huge role in CRS scoring. The younger you are, the more points you get. If you’re under 30, you’ll score maximum points for age. If you’re above 35, you may need to compensate by improving other areas like language and education.
Express Entry draws vary, and sometimes, the cut-off scores drop. Keep an eye on trends and update your profile regularly. Express Entry draws are held every week.
Immigrating to Canada from the UAE is possible with the right strategy. Following the above tips, you can increase your chances of getting an ITA. Take proactive steps, stay persistent, and soon you could be packing your bags for a new life in Canada.
