Mainly, there are two pathways:
Pathway 1: Express Entry
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced “category-based selection draws” for Express Entry in 2023. Since then, thousands of immigrants from India have applied for Canada PR visas from India and settled in Canada.
Six categories were selected under these draws, and 35 NOCs were targeted for the Healthcare Occupations category. To be eligible, you must:
Pathway 2: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Apply under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) Express Entry stream - Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream, specifically tailored to attract skilled foreign workers to settle in Ontario permanently.
Requirements to apply:
Ontario selects candidates with strong educational backgrounds and relevant work experience to nominate for PR. If you get selected, you will receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from the OINP based on your Express Entry profile to apply for the nomination under the HCP stream. You’ll be given 45 calendar days to submit a complete application – with complete information and documents.
If your application gets approved, you will be notified by Ontario, which you can accept and apply for PR through federal programs.
On average, the applications submitted through federal Express Entry programs are processed within 5-6 months. It may be processed in a shorter time, depending on the completeness of your application. Note that skilled professionals are prioritized in category-based selection draws.
On the other hand, under Ontario’s Express Entry - Human Capital Priorities stream, PR applications are processed within 60 to 90 days.
