Has your PNP nomination recently been cancelled or withdrawn by a province or territory?
First things first, you must know provinces in Canada have the right to do so - under certain circumstances.
Securing a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination can greatly benefit your chances of Canada immigration. That said, it is also crucial to note that your nomination can be revoked or withdrawn by the province for a number of reasons.
Find out why.
Check Your Eligibility for Canada PR
A PNP nomination - on its own - can give you a pathway to enter Canada through one of the many streams offered by each government under its specific program. But, if you’ve applied for a Canada PR visa from India and are in the Express Entry pool, you require a higher Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score to get selected in the Express Entry draw.
While improving your language, getting a job from a Canadian employer, and other methods may increase your score for Canada PR, getting a nomination makes an immense difference. A provincial nomination gets you 600 additional CRS points straight, almost guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residency.
Each province in Canada has made it extremely clear they can cancel or withdraw your nomination if you fail to meet their conditions. This can happen at any given moment before your permanent residence in Canada is approved.
Some conditions may include - retaining the job offer that initially made you eligible for a PNP nomination. Otherwise, it can be if you do not maintain the funds needed to immigrate to a Canadian province. Another reason can be misrepresentation like failing to update and report changes to your situation throughout the application process like the birth of a child, loss of job, etc.
PNP Nomination Withdrawal Across Various Provinces
Here are the reasons provided by each province as to why the local government may cancel or withdraw a PNP nomination:
If you fail to apply for permanent residence to IRCC before the nomination expiry date, among other reasons, your PNP nomination will be cancelled or withdrawn.
To avoid the risk, continue to show your intention to reside in Ontario until you receive PR.
Your PNP may be revoked if you do not seem genuinely interested in living, working, and/or starting a business in Manitoba.
If you or your representative voluntarily withdraw the nomination or you get PR approval through an immigration program other than Saskatchewan, your PNP will be cancelled.
If IRCC finds out that the principal applicant and their spouse or common-law partner, or a dependent is not allowed for Canadian immigration, you may lose nomination.
PNP nomination will be withdrawn if you fail to request to modify a nomination before it expires and if you do not genuinely intend to live in New Brunswick.
If you fail to immediately disclose changes in your status like marital status, birth of a child, changes in employment, or receiving a decision on a work permit/PR application.
To avoid withdrawal, you must apply for PR within 6 months after receiving a nomination.
If you are interested in immigrating to the provinces of Alberta, Prince Edward Island (PEI) and Yukon, they provide further details regarding reasons why the government in these provinces may cancel or withdraw your nomination. Check their official website or connect with us for further details before applying.
To secure a PNP nomination successfully, you must follow the criteria set by the respective Canadian provinces.
For any reason, if your Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination gets withdrawn or cancelled, take immediate action and connect with the relevant authorities to know why. Provide details or documents that may help and not repeat the mistakes.
