Check eligibility for Canada Super Visa

Super Visa for Parents and Grandparents

Canada grants a Super Visa, designed specifically for parents and grandparents of permanent residents and Canadian citizens. Unlike the regular Visitor Visa, which has a validity of six months, Super Visa Canada offers eligible candidates the opportunity to visit their families living in Canada for an extended period of 5 years.

How long does the Super Visa Processing take?

Generally, the processing of a Super Visa takes about 7 weeks. The time of visa processing starts the day the immigration authorities receive your application and ends when they make their final decision.

During the process, you may be asked to provide your fingerprints and photos (biometrics) with your application. In addition, the processing time does not include -

  • The time taken to send the application between a visa application center and our office.
  • The time you need to give your biometrics.
If any document is missing or incorrect, the application may be delayed or returned.

What are the Key Benefits of the Super Visa?

By applying for Canada Super Visa, you can expect the following benefits -

  • Extended Stay: The Government of Canada allows Super Visa holders to live in Canada for a maximum of 5 years.
  • Multiple Entries: A Super Visa is a multiple-entry visa that allows parents and grandparents of citizens and permanent residents of Canada to visit the country many times in 10 years.
  • No Renewals: Unlike the standard Visitor Visa, the Super Visa does not need frequent extensions or renewals. This means less trouble and more quality time with family.
  • No Age Limit: Super Visa does not have an age restriction for applications, which makes it accessible to parents and grandparents of different ages.

Step 2 - Purchase Medical Insurance: Before applying, secure comprehensive medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company. The policy should cover healthcare, hospitalization, and repatriation.

Step 3 - Complete Application Forms: Fill out the Super Visa application forms (IMM 5257 and IMM 5707) accurately and honestly. Attach the required supporting documents, including your Letter of Invitation, medical exam results, police certificate, and proof of financial support.

Step 4 - Submit Your Application: Submit your application, along with the necessary fees, to the appropriate Visa Application Center (VAC) or Canadian consulate/embassy in your home country.

Step 5 - Attend Biometrics Appointment: You may be required to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photographs) at a local VAC.
