Alberta regularly selects candidates for a provincial nomination by issuing invitations to them through Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) draws. The AAIP conducts regular draws under one of its streams - to select candidates to submit a complete application for permanent residency to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) nominates candidates for permanent residence in Alberta. Eligible candidates must have skills to fill job shortages or be planning to buy or start a business in Alberta. If you are issued a provincial nomination through the AAIP, you may apply for a Canada PR visa with your spouse and dependent children.
If you plan on applying under the AAIP, you have the following options to choose from:
Streams for Workers
Streams for Entrepreneurs
Depending on the specific situation, candidates can choose the relevant stream – and find out their eligibility. Once done, they would be mandated to submit an application for their chosen stream, and obtain a provincial nomination from Alberta.
Upon successful nomination, candidates would be required to submit a permanent residency application to the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The above-mentioned streams under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program comprise both – Enhanced and Base streams.
Enhanced streams are those that are aligned with Canada’s renowned Express Entry Program. In Alberta, only the Alberta Express Entry stream is enhanced, where candidates are required to obtain a qualifying Express Entry score, meet prerequisites, and demonstrate an interest in moving to Alberta – may receive a Notification of Interest from Alberta.
Base streams are not aligned to the Express Entry system. Interested candidates are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the province’s AAIP portal. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and a qualifying score in the Alberta PNP points calculator are issued provincial nominations.
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issues ITAs to eligible candidates 4-5 times every month, with some exceptions. The frequency, size, and date of the Alberta PNP next draw prediction – are determined by the needs of the AAIP application inventory.
The Alberta PNP latest draw was held on November 21, 2024. A total of 96 invitations were issued to Alberta Express Entry Stream candidates with a minimum score of 42.
