Alberta PNP’s Express Entry Stream

Managed under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), the Alberta Express Entry Stream allows the province to invite candidates directly from the federal Express Entry pool.

These candidates must meet specific criteria set by Alberta, like having a valid Express Entry profile, work experience in high-demand jobs, and a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Alberta also prioritizes candidates with strong connections to the province - such as family ties, job offers, or having completed studies there.

Express Entry draws in Alberta to select candidates from the pool based on their CRS score and the province’s labour market needs. Once invited, candidates must apply for a provincial nomination. If nominated, they receive an extra 600 CRS points, which guarantees they will be invited to apply for Canada PR in the next federal Express Entry draw.

Alberta’s draws often have lower CRS cut-off scores compared to the federal draws, making it an attractive option for those with moderate CRS scores. This program aims to address labour shortages in Alberta and help the province attract skilled workers to contribute to its economy and communities.
