British Columbia PNP: An Overview

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) helps skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and graduates move to the province permanently. Through the program, BC can select people who have the skills and experience needed in the local job market.

There are two main streams:

  • Skills Immigration targets workers with experience in jobs that are in demand. This includes categories for skilled workers, healthcare professionals, international graduates, and semi-skilled workers in certain industries like hospitality and transportation.
  • Entrepreneur Immigration is for those who want to start or invest in a business in BC. It’s designed for experienced business people who can support economic growth in the province.

The BC PNP operates on a point-based system, where candidates are given points based on factors like work experience, education, and language skills. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply.

Once nominated by BC, candidates can apply for permanent residence through the federal government. The BC PNP provides a faster route to permanent residency, especially for people who are already working or studying in BC. This program helps meet BC’s workforce needs while offering opportunities to newcomers.

Currently, 80% of applications under the BC PNP are being processed within 8-10 months.
