How does a BC PNP Skills Immigration draw work?

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Skills Immigration draws are part of BC’s immigration strategy to address labour shortages by inviting skilled workers to the province. These draws focus on attracting individuals who have the skills, qualifications, and work experience required in various industries across the province.

The Skills Immigration stream under BC PNP includes several categories, such as

  • Skilled Workers,
  • International Graduates,
  • Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled workers, and
  • Healthcare Professionals.

To be eligible, candidates must have a valid job offer from a BC employer, meet specific wage standards, and have relevant work experience in their field.

BC holds regular Skills Immigration draws where candidates in the BC PNP registration pool are invited to apply for provincial nomination based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores. Factors like job offer, work experience, education, and language proficiency influence the CRS Score Calculator.

Those invited to apply and who receive a provincial nomination will get 600 additional CRS points, significantly boosting their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency through Canada’s Express Entry system.

Currently, 80% of applications under the BC PNP Skills Immigration stream are being processed within 8-10 months.
