Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted its 15th Express Entry draw of 2023. This was the second invitation round of June and follows the previous Express Entry draw held on June 08, 2023.
The latest Express Entry draw held on June 27, 2023, saw invitations being issued to a total of 4,300 candidates present in the Express Entry pool. Being an all-program draw, candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were eligible for this round of invitations.
Express Entry draws have had an unusual pattern this year. The June 27 Express Entry draw was expected to be conducted in the previous week - on June 21, 2023. This makes it difficult to predict exactly when the next draw will take place, however, IRCC will likely develop a more concrete pattern as draws continue to take place in 2023.

Canada's Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser, recently unveiled the introduction of category-based selection draws for Express Entry candidates. The purpose of these draws is to attract more skilled workers in specific professions that are in high demand in Canada. IRCC believes that by focusing on individuals with strong French language proficiency or work experience in key sectors such as Healthcare, STEM professions, Trades, Transport, Agriculture, and Agri-food - they can support Canada's commitment to welcoming in-demand occupations across the country.
The launch of category-based draws, following the changes to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in June 2022, is expected to commence this year. These changes will allow the minister to select immigrants based on crucial attributes that align with Canada's economic priorities - making it the best time to immigrate to Canada.
