Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a new Express Entry draw on 13th February 2024. A total of 1,490 candidates were invited in a General draw. Invited candidates required a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 535.
Type of Draw: General
If more than one candidate that was invited, has the lowest CRS score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they had submitted their Express Entry profile. Invitations to apply to the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) may be issued through this latest draw.
Candidates invited to this Express Entry draw now have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence (APR) in their online account. This includes providing all supporting documentation.
This was the fifth Express Entry draw conducted by IRCC in 2024.
Date | Draw Type |
No. of ITAs | Minimum CRS |

The next Express Entry draw is projected to be conducted on 27 February 2024.
Express Entry draws are conducted every two weeks, usually on a Wednesday. The number of ITAs, minimum CRS score, and draw-type are determined by the IRCC. This varies depending on factors including, the Canadian economy, labour market, and the immigration targets set in the Canada Immigration Level Plans 2024-2026.
IRCC will conduct three types of Express Entry draws in 2024.
In General Express Entry, IRCC invites the highest-ranking candidates in the pool who are eligible for 1 of the 3 programs managed through the Express Entry Program: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
In Program-specific Express Entry draws, IRCC invites the highest-ranking candidates who are eligible for a specific Express Entry program which is linked with a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
For Category-based Express Entry draws, Canada’s Immigration Minister establishes a category to meet a specific economic goal. From this, IRCC then invites the highest-ranking candidates from the pool who are eligible for the targeted category. A total of six categories have been finalized by IRCC for Express Entry draws in 2024.
With an application processing time of 6 months, the Express Entry Program is currently the most popular option for immigrants to apply for Canada PR visa. It uses a points-based system, which considers factors such as Age, Education, Work Experience, and Language Proficiency - to determine eligibility for permanent residency..
Canada has been historically welcoming a high number of immigrants to help “support & sustain” its economy under the Express Entry Program. As of February 2024, Canada is facing drastic labour shortages - alongside nearly 1 million job vacancies. Both of which are the driving factors behind the higher immigration targets.
With the upcoming record-breaking immigration intakes and the back-to-back invitation rounds being conducted in 2024, now is the best time to immigrate to Canada.
