Express Entry CEC Draws - How do they work?

Managed under the Express Entry Program, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws are a way for candidates with Canadian work experience to get permanent residence (PR). The CEC is part of the Express Entry system, which also includes the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

In CEC draws, the government invites candidates who have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years. These draws usually happen every two weeks, and only those who are already in Canada or recently worked here can qualify.

The draws are based on a points system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Points are given for factors like age, education, language skills (in English or French), and work experience. Candidates with the highest scores in the CRS score calculator get invitations to apply for PR.

CEC draws often have lower CRS score requirements compared to other Express Entry programs because it focuses on candidates already established in Canada. The whole process is faster than traditional immigration methods, often taking around six months.
