Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a new draw. This was the first invitation round conducted by the department in April. Last month, IRCC conducted four Express Entry draws that invited 13,261 candidates to apply for permanent residence (PR).
If you have been invited to this latest Express Entry draw, you will have 60 days to submit a complete application for PR to the IRCC. If this timeframe passes, your Invitation to Apply (ITA) will no longer be valid.
The latest Express Entry draw was held on April 14, 2025. ITAs were issued to 825 candidates across a PNP-specific draw. Invited candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 764 to be eligible for an invitation.
Draw No: 342
Type of Draw: Provincial Nominee Program
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
Express Entry Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws allow provinces and territories in Canada to nominate candidates from the Express Entry pool to apply for Canada PR. To be eligible for a PNP draw, you must first create an Express Entry profile and meet the basic requirements.
Each province has its own criteria for selecting candidates, often based on labor market needs and skills shortages. Eligibility factors typically include work experience, education, language proficiency, and age. Generally, a Provincial Nominee (PN) from any participating province adds 600 points to your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, significantly increasing your chances of receiving an invitation for permanent residency.
The Express Entry candidate pool has experienced significant changes following the removal of arranged employment points from the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Thousands of candidates saw their CRS scores drop by 50 or 200 points, affecting their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence (PR).
The biggest drop occurred in the 501-600 CRS score range, with 5,740 profiles removed. Similarly, the 491-500 range lost 1,618 profiles, and the 481-490 range saw a decrease of 984 profiles. Together, these three score ranges (above the 90th percentile) lost a total of 8,342 profiles between March 16 and April 14, 2025.
The removal of arranged employment points caused these profiles to be redistributed to lower CRS score ranges. Despite these reductions, the candidate pool grew by 7,373 profiles, suggesting that the main change in pool composition was due to the removal of arranged employment CRS points.
