Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a new Express Entry draw. This was the first invitation round conducted by the department in December.
If you have been invited to this latest Express Entry draw, you will have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence (PR) to the IRCC. If this timeframe passes, your Invitation to Apply (ITA) will no longer be valid.
The latest Express Entry draw held on December 02, 2024, saw ITAs being issued to 676 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required to be eligible for an ITA was 705.
Draw No: #328
Type of draw: Provincial Nominee Program
If more than one candidate has the lowest score in the latest Express Entry draw, the CRS score cut-off will be based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
Express Entry draws in 2024 have had a very unusual pattern throughout the year. Usually, IRCC draws are held every two weeks. For instance, in July, IRCC conducted nine Express Entry draws welcoming over 25,000 candidates. On the other hand, IRCC conducted only 3 Express Entry draws in September. Whereas in both October and November, the department again issued six draws each.
This has made it difficult to predict when the next Express Entry draw will be conducted.
Express Entry Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws are a key part of Canada’s immigration system. These draws allow provinces and territories in Canada to select candidates from the Express Entry pool who meet their specific labour market needs. Each province has its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) designed to attract skilled workers, graduates, and entrepreneurs to address regional demands.
When a province nominates a candidate, they receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. These extra points significantly increase their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next federal Express Entry draw.
PNP draws typically focus on specific occupations or skill sets in demand, such as healthcare, IT, or trades. Provinces like Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta frequently conduct PNP draws. Some PNP streams require candidates to have a job offer, while others consider applicants based on their experience, education, or language skills.
The combination of federal and provincial systems ensures that Canada welcomes skilled immigrants who contribute to local economies.
