Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a new Express Entry draw. This was the first invitation round conducted by the department in February. Last month, IRCC conducted three Express Entry draws - inviting a total of 5,821 candidates to apply for permanent residence (PR).
If you have been invited to this latest Express Entry draw, you will have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence to the IRCC. Your Invitation to Apply (ITA) will not be valid if this timeframe passes.
The latest Express Entry draw was held on 04 February 2025. ITAs were issued to 455 candidates across a PNP-specific draw. Invited candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 802 to be eligible for an invitation.
Draw No: 334
Type of Draw: Provincial Nominee Program
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
Express Entry PNP draws are designed to help provinces in Canada select foreign skilled workers who can meet their local labour market needs.
These draws invite candidates from the Express Entry pool who have received a nomination from a province. A provincial nomination adds 600 points to a candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, almost guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next Express Entry draw.
Each province runs its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), targeting workers with specific skills, work experience, or job offers. Popular PNPs include Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), British Columbia PNP (BCPNP), and Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Some PNPs invite candidates directly from the Express Entry pool, while others require a separate application before issuing a nomination.
Getting a PNP nomination is one of the best ways to boost your Express Entry profile and secure a PR invitation faster. If your CRS score is low, applying to a PNP can improve your chances. Also, if you did not receive an ITA in the latest Express Entry draw, do not withdraw your application. You may be invited in the next Express Entry draw.
Apart from PNP-specific draws, IRCC also conducts general and category-based Express Entry draws. The general draws the target three federal streams managed under the Express Entry Program, whereas, category-based draws select candidates with work experience in a specific occupation are invited to apply for Canada PR.
Currently, 80% of applications under the Express Entry Program are being processed within 6 to 8 months.
