Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted its second Express Entry draw of the week. Just yesterday, the department issued 2,850 invitations, to candidates across a general draw.
The Express Entry draw held on March 13, 2024, saw invitations being issued to 975 candidates under the Transport Occupations category.
This was only the third time IRCC held a category-based draw that was targeted at candidates under the Transport Occupations category. The previous such draws were held on December 20 and September 20, 2023.
Type of draw: Transport Occupations
If you’ve been invited in this Express Entry draw, you will now have 60 days to submit a complete application to apply for Canada PR visa to the IRCC. If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
Transport Occupations is one of the six categories finalized by the IRCC for category-based Express Entry draws. To be eligible to apply under the Transport Occupations Category, you must:

The six categories chosen for Express Entry draws are made up of occupations that are currently facing high shortages in Canada. Trades, Transport, Equipment Operations - and related occupations are among the sectors that are experiencing the greatest need (around 16%) for skilled labour.
According to a report, the following occupations are projected to have drastic labour shortages across the Transportation sectors in the next 12 years.
While category-based draws are a specific way for you to come to Canada - if you have work experience in transport occupations, you are also eligible to apply for Canada PR visa via standard Express Entry or Provincial Nominee Program draws.
