Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted another Express Entry draw. This was the third invitation round of the month conducted by the department this week. So far in July, IRCC has conducted seven Express Entry draws.
The latest Express Entry draw held on July 18, 2024, saw Invitation to Apply (ITAs) being issued to 1,800 candidates under the French Language Proficiency category. Invited candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400 to be eligible for an ITA.
Type of draw: French Language Proficiency
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the CRS score cut-off will be based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles. If you’ve been invited, you will have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency (PR) to the IRCC.
If you did not get invited
If you were not invited, your profile will remain active in the Express Entry pool for 12 months from the submission date. Do not withdraw your application, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next Express Entry draw.
To be eligible under the French-Language Proficiency category, you must
As compared to the other five newly announced Express Entry selection categories, French-Language Proficiency is the only one that does not consider work experience as the key attribute to be issued an ITA.
Canada’s Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has a mandate to promote the French language outside of Quebec. Announcing the first-ever French-Language Proficiency Express Entry draw, IRCC quoted, “ By prioritizing the invitation of French-speaking newcomers, Canada aims to support economic growth through Francophone immigration outside Quebec while recognizing how it enriches and strengthens these communities.”
This initiative supports the growth of Francophone communities outside Quebec, contributing to Canada's cultural and linguistic diversity. By valuing French proficiency, the Express Entry Program not only enhances the country's bilingual nature but also attracts skilled individuals who can contribute to the economy and integrate seamlessly into Canadian society.
