Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a new Express Entry draw. This was the second invitation round conducted by the department this week. Just yesterday, IRCC conducted a PNP-specific Express Entry draw that invited 471 candidates to apply for Canada PR.

Today, candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) stream were invited. If you have been invited to this latest Express Entry draw, you will have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency to the IRCC. If this timeframe passes, your Invitation to Apply (ITA) will no longer be valid.

Latest Express Entry Draw - Results

The latest Express Entry draw held on January 08, 2025, invited 1,350 candidates across a PNP-specific draw. Candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 542 to be eligible for an invitation.

Draw No: #332
Type of draw: Canadian Experience Class

  • Date and time: January 8, 2025
  • CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 542
  • Number of invitations issued: 1,350
  • Rank needed: 1,350 or above
  • Tie-breaking rule: December 07, 2024 at 01:10:06 UTC

Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Draws

Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws are a key part of Canada’s immigration system. These draws are specifically designed for individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada. The CEC stream is one of the three streams managed under the Express Entry Program, and it allows eligible candidates to apply for permanent residency (PR).

In a CEC draw, IRCC selects candidates from the Express Entry pool based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Factors like age, education, language proficiency, and work experience influence your CRS score. Unlike other draws, CEC candidates don’t require a Labour Market Impact Impacts Assessment (LMIA) or a job offer to qualify.

Another key advantage of CEC draws is that they don’t require proof of settlement funds, which is mandatory for other programs. Additionally, these draws often have lower CRS cut-off scores compared to other Express Entry streams, making it easier for skilled workers in Canada to secure an invitation.

If you’ve worked in Canada for at least one year in a skilled occupation, you may be eligible for the CEC program. Regular draws ensure eligible candidates have a chance to transition from temporary work status to PR - strengthening Canada’s workforce. Currently, 80% of the Canada PR applications under Express Entry are being processed within the standard timeline of 6 months.

Out of the overall planned permanent resident admissions targeted in the Canada Immigration Levels Plan 2025 (395,000), 232,150 will be welcomed through economic immigration pathways such as the Express Entry Program.
