IRCC invites 400 candidates in fourth Express Entry draw of the week

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted its fourth Express Entry draw of the week.

The latest Express Entry draw held on December 21, 2023, saw invitations being issued to 400 candidates in the Agriculture and Agri-food occupations category. Agriculture and Agri-food occupations category is one of the six selection categories finalized by IRCC for Express Entry draws.

Invited candidates also required a minimum CRS score of 386, to be considered for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residency. This was the second category-based Express Entry draw conducted by IRCC for Agriculture and Agri-food occupations. The previous one was held on September 28, 2023 - which issued 600 ITAs with a minimum CRS score of 354.

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

*Invitations to apply to the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program may be issued through this round of invitations.

Agriculture and Agri-food Occupations Category Eligibility

To be eligible to apply under the Agriculture and Agri-food Occupations Category, you must:

• Meet the eligibility criteria of one of the Express Entry streams: FSWP, FSTP, or CEC.
• Have at least 6 months of full-time, continuous work experience within the past 3 years in Canada or abroad, in a profession targeted for the Agriculture and Agri-food Occupations Category.
• Meet all of the requirements in the instructions for that round.

Express Entry Draws In December

Today’s draw marks the seventh Express Entry draw of the month. Within just 15 days, IRCC managed to invite a total of 15,045 candidates to apply for Canada PR visa.

On May 31, 2023, IRCC finalized six new selection categories for Express Entry draws. Besides the Agriculture and Agri-food Occupations category, other newly launched categories include Healthcare occupations, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) occupations, Trades occupations, Transport occupations, and Strong French language proficiency.

The Express Entry system is now tailored to provide a streamlined and efficient pathway for individuals with expertise in critical in-demand fields in Canada. By prioritizing the invitation of skilled immigrants with work experience in Agriculture and Agri-food Occupations, Canada aims to meet the increasing demand for talent and fill key positions contributing to the nation’s economic growth and advancement.
