Nova Scotia conducted a new Entrepreneur draw on November 1. A total of 12 invitations were issued under two streams of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). This was Nova Scotia’s first business immigration draw in 11 months.

The Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream is designed for candidates with business ownership or senior management experience. They must live in Nova Scotia and – either buy an existing business or start a new business, and actively participate in the day-to-day management of the business.
Candidates eligible under this stream are first issued a temporary work permit before they can apply for Canada PR – after obtaining the business for at least 1 year. The Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) format, where candidates in the pool are invited to apply.

Similar to the Entrepreneur Stream, the Nova Scotia International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is aimed at recent graduates from a university/college in the province. Also, candidates must have started or purchased a Nova Scotia business – and operated it for a year on a Post Graduate Work Permit.
Candidates are nominated to apply for Canada PR if they intend to settle in Nova Scotia. This stream all uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) format, similar to that of the Entrepreneur Stream.

Nova Scotia is one of the many Canadian provinces that has moved from a “direct path to Canada for wealthy immigrants” and turned to a “two-step immigration program” – directly aimed at potential Entrepreneurs seeking to establish businesses and be granted permanent residency.
