OINP’s Skilled Trades Stream

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) Skilled Trades Stream is designed to help skilled workers in specific trades become permanent residents of Canada. This stream is part of Ontario's Express Entry system and is aimed at individuals who have experience in certain in-demand trades within the province.

To qualify, applicants need to be living in Ontario and have a valid work permit. They must have at least one year of full-time work experience (or the equivalent in part-time) in an eligible skilled trade within Ontario, in the last two years. These trades are typically found in the construction, industrial, electrical, and agricultural sectors.

Applicants also need to meet language requirements, scoring a minimum of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in English or French. In addition, they should have a valid profile in the federal Express Entry system under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

What makes this stream attractive is that it targets skilled workers in trades that are in high demand in Ontario. If you receive a provincial nomination through this stream, you will earn an additional 600 points toward your Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, almost guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residence.
