Immigrate to PEI in 2024

PEI’s Express Entry Stream - Eligibility

To be eligible for a nomination under PEI’s Express Entry stream, candidates must:

  • Meet the eligibility of at least one of the federal Express Entry streams i.e., the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
  • Create an Express Entry profile through the IRCC and be placed in the pool of candidates.

Prince Edward Island prioritizes invitations issued through Express Entry for applicants working and living in the province with an eligible PEI employer.

Candidates are required to show 9 months of continuous full-time work experience with the PEI employer supporting their immigration and have at least 4 months remaining on their work permit at the time of submission of their EOI if:

  • They hold a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and graduated from an institution outside of PEI.
  • They have a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) as a result of their spouse’s study permit from an institution outside of PEI.

Application Process

To immigrate through Prince Edward Island PNP, candidates must first create a profile in PEI’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system. The EOI ranks and invites candidates based on the following selection factors:

  • Language: English or French
  • Education: level and field of education and where completed
  • Skill and work experience level
  • Strategic priorities: attributes that would address immediate labour market needs in PEI
  • Other factors relevant to employment prospects: including but not limited to having a job offer in PEI and/or previous Canadian work experience.

A profile in the pool remains active for 6 months. Candidates must ensure that the information provided in their profile is accurate and verifiable. Those invited to apply in a subsequent PEI PNP draw will receive an email notification that will include their file number and instructions for submission of their file for permanent residency.

Candidates must then pay a non-refundable processing fee of CAD$ 300.

If they are selected for nomination by PEI, they must then accept the nomination through their MyCIC account online. After they are Invited to Apply by IRCC candidates must submit an electronic application to apply for Canada PR - with all supporting documentation and fees through the MyCIC account. IRCC is responsible for the decision on all applications for Permanent Residency.
