On October 20, Prince Edward Island conducted a new provincial draw in which it issued Invitations to Apply (ITA) to 204 skilled worker and entrepreneur candidates.
Invitations were issued under Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) streams including Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact. Where 194 out of the 204 invites were issued to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates, and the remaining 10 to Business Impact candidates.
Candidates applying under the PEI PNP Business Impact stream required a minimum score of 72 points.
Date | Category | Invites Issued | Minimum Score |
20-10-2022 | Labour Impact/Express Entry | 194 | N/A |
Business Impact | 10 | 72 |
Prince Edward Island issued a total of 1,933 invites in 2021, compared to 1,955 invites back in 2020.
Considering the 2021 invites, 1,764 out of the 1,933 invites were issued to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates and the remaining 169 to Business Impact candidates.
Prince Edward Island’s Express Entry Streams functions by selecting potential candidates already in the federal Express Entry pool for a provincial nomination. Since a PNP nomination automatically awards 600 points to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, getting nominated from a Canadian province effectively guarantees an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian Immigration.
There are two pathways to Canada Immigration through the PEI Express Entry stream, depending on whether or not an immigrant has a job offer in PEI or not.
Candidates applying under this stream must be eligible for one of the following federal economic immigration classes managed by the Express Entry system:
Upon successful registration in the federal Express Entry system, candidates are required to create a profile in PEI’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
The profile is then reviewed and assigned points based on six selection factors including Age, Language Proficiency, Education, Work Experience, and Adaptability – up to a maximum of 100 points.
Prince Edward Island’s Labour Impact Stream is designed for immigrants with a valid job offer and support from a PEI employer. Offering a direct pathway to Canadian permanent residency, the PEI PNP immigration category is composed of three classes:
Upon successful registration in the Labour Impact stream, candidates are required to create a profile in PEI’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
The profile is then reviewed and assigned points based on six selection factors including Age, Language Proficiency, Education, Work Experience, and Adaptability – up to a maximum of 100 points.
Prince Edward Island’s Business Impact Stream has a dedicated entrepreneur immigration pathway known as the Work Permit Stream. The Work Permit Stream is designed for immigrants interested in owning and operating a business in the province of Prince Edward Island.
Approved business immigrants are initially issued a temporary work permit with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to establish their business. If the conditions of the Performance Agreement signed with the Government of Prince Edward Island are met – business immigrants may be eligible to apply for Canada PR.
