To apply for Canada PR under the Quebec RSWP, you'll need to follow these steps:
STEP 1: Obtain a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ)
Review the eligibility criteria and ensure you meet the requirements to apply under the Quebec RSWP. Create an EOI profile on the Quebec government's official immigration portal (Arrima) and provide information about your education, work experience, language proficiency, and other relevant details. Based on the information provided in your EOI, you may receive an invitation to apply for the CSQ from the Quebec government.
STEP 2: Submit a CSQ application
Prepare all necessary documents, including identity proofs, educational credentials, work experience letters, language test results, and proof of funds. Complete the CSQ application form accurately, attach the supporting documents, and pay the required fees. Submit your application to the Quebec government.
STEP 3: Wait for CSQ approval
The Quebec immigration authorities will assess your application and may take several months to process it. If your application is approved, you will receive a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ), which signifies that Quebec has chosen you for PR.
STEP 4: Apply for Canada PR with IRCC
Once you have obtained the CSQ, you must apply for Canada PR with the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) federal department. Make an online account on the IRCC website and complete the PR application form. Upload the required documents, which may include medical and police clearance certificates, and pay the necessary PR processing fees.
STEP 5: Medical examination and background check
IRCC will require you to undergo a medical examination to ensure you meet the health requirements for immigration. A thorough background check will be conducted to assess your criminal history.
STEP 6: Wait for PR decision
The processing time for Canada PR applications can vary, so be patient during this period. If your application is successful, you will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and a PR visa.
STEP 7: Travel to Canada and become a PR
Once you have your COPR and PR visa, travel to Canada before the visa expires and activate your PR status. After arriving in Canada, apply for your Permanent Resident Card, which serves as official proof of your PR status.
