On February 22, 2023, the Australian government conducted a new Canberra Matrix invitation round - the first of the year 2023. This invitation round saw a total of 919 invitations being issued to Canberra Residents and Overseas Applicants.
Out of the total candidates invited to apply for Australian Immigration Capital Territory (ACT) nominations, 511 were issued to Canberra residents, whereas, the remaining 408 invitations were issued to Overseas Applicants. Higher ITAs than the first Canberra Matrix invitation round of the year held on January 23, 2023.
The ACT has issued these 919 invitations to candidates registered under the following streams:
Date: 22 February 2023
Category | Number of invitations issued | Total Canberra Matrix Invitation |
Canberra Residents | 511 | 919 |
Overseas applicants | 408 |
As of February 22nd Canberra Matrix Invitation Round:
Total Approvals: 1705 approvals | Subclass 190 - 641 approvals | Subclass 491 - 1064 approvals.
Total Refusals: 374 refusals | Subclass 190 - 90 refusals (12%) | Subclass 491 - 284 refusals (21%).
Remaining Allocation: 2,345 nomination places (552 per month) | Subclass 190 - 1,384 (pro rata 326 per month) | Subclass 491 - 961 (pro rata 226 per month).
The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has a fixed number of nomination places available each month – pro-rata against the annual allocation. The highest ranked Matrix in each occupation in demand in Australia is invited to apply for ACT nomination. The cut-off for the nomination depends on the date & time of the Matrix submission, occupation cap & demand, and the remaining monthly allocation. The more the demand for an occupation in Australia – the higher the rank of the Matrix score invited.
The cut-off Matrix score is an indication only. It does not guarantee that an invitation will be issued. Also, invitations will not be issued if the candidate has an active application in the system or has previously received an ACT nomination.
