Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a new Express Entry draw. This was the second invitation round conducted by the department this month - and also the second of the week. Just yesterday, IRCC invited 733 candidates across a PNP-specific draw.
Usually, Express Entry draws are held every two weeks - but IRCC has followed an unusual pattern throughout 2024. This has made it difficult to predict when the next Express Entry draw will occur.
Today, IRCC invited candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) stream. If you have been invited to this latest Express Entry draw, you will have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence (PR) to the IRCC. If this timeframe passes, your Invitation to Apply (ITA) will no longer be valid.
The latest Express Entry draw was held on November 13, 2024. A total of 400 candidates from Express Entry Canadian Experience Class (CEC) stream were invited to apply for PR. Invited candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 547 to be eligible for an ITA.
Draw No: #322
Type of draw: Provincial Nominee Program
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the CRS score cut-off will be based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
Express Entry draws for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) target skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents.
CEC draws are part of Canada’s Express Entry Program, which selects candidates based on a points system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). In these draws, applicants are invited based on their CRS scores, which consider factors like age, education, work experience, and language ability.
CEC draws are designed specifically for those who have gained at least one year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada within the past three years. Since these applicants already have Canadian work experience, CEC draws often have lower CRS score cut-offs compared to other programs, making it easier for many to get invited.
Express Entry draws for CEC usually happen every few weeks, and when candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), they have 60 days to submit a complete PR application. CEC draws are popular because they offer a quicker pathway for skilled workers already familiar with Canadian life and work culture, helping them transition smoothly into becoming permanent residents.
Currently, 80% of applications under the Express Entry Program are being processed in 6 to 8 months.
