Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a new Express Entry draw. This was the second invitation round conducted by the department this week. The previous Express Entry draw was held on Monday, September 09, 2024 - which welcomed 911 candidates across a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw.
Today, IRCC conducted another draw which invited candidates under the French-language proficiency category. If you have been invited in this latest Express Entry draw, you will have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence (PR) to the IRCC. If this timeframe passes, your Invitation to Apply (ITA) will no longer be valid.
Draw No: #314
Type of draw: French Language Proficiency
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the CRS score cut-off will be based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
If you did not get invited
If you were not invited, your profile will remain active in the Express Entry pool for 12 months from the date of submission. Do not withdraw your application, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next Express Entry draw.
On May 31, Canada’s Immigration Minister announced that IRCC has finalized six new selection categories for draws under the Express Entry Program. Besides French-Language Proficiency, Healthcare Occupations, STEM Occupations, Trades Occupations, Transport Occupations, and Agriculture & Agri-Food Occupations are among the categories that will be considered for Express Entry draws in 2024 and beyond
As compared to the other five Express Entry selection categories, French-Language Proficiency is the only one that does not consider work experience as the key attribute to be issued an ITA.
To be eligible under the French-Language Proficiency category, you must
Canada has a mandate to promote the French language outside of Quebec. Announcing the first-ever French-Language Proficiency Express Entry draw, IRCC quoted, “ By prioritizing the invitation of French-speaking newcomers, Canada aims to support economic growth through Francophone immigration outside Quebec while recognizing how it enriches and strengthens these communities.”
Currently, 80% of applications under the Express Entry Program are being processed within 6-8 months. This includes general Express Entry draws, program-specific Express Entry draws, and category-based Express Entry draws.
