Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted another Express Entry draw. Just yesterday on February 28, the department issued 1,470 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates across a General draw.
The Express Entry latest draw held on February 29, saw 2,500 ITAs being issued in a category-based selection draw for candidates with strong French Language Proficiency. Invited candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 336.
Type of Draw: French Language Proficiency
If you’ve been invited to this Express Entry draw, you will have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency to the IRCC. If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
To be eligible under the French-Language Proficiency category, candidates must:
As compared to the other five newly announced selection categories for Express Entry, French-Language Proficiency is the only one that does not consider work experience as the key attribute to be invited to apply for Canada PR visa. Canada is enhancing efforts to welcome French-speaking skilled workers, aiding national identity and economic growth. Minister Marc Miller announced Express Entry rounds for skilled workers with specific experience or French proficiency.
This initiative aims to address labour shortages and boost Francophone communities across Canada. Targets set for Francophone immigration outside Quebec aim for 6% in 2024, 7% in 2025, and 8% in 2026. New policies, like the Policy on Francophone Immigration, emphasize supporting Francophone communities' vitality and economic development. Express Entry will continue to prioritize candidates fluent in French, aligning with Canada's commitment to these communities' prosperity.
February has been a busy month for IRCC.
Including the Express Entry latest draw, IRCC invited 16,110 candidates across six invitation rounds in February. These included General Express Entry draws, Program-specific Express Entry draws, and Category-based Express Entry draws. This was the second category-based Express Entry draw conducted by IRCC in 2024. The previous draw also invited candidates from the French Language Proficiency categories.
