The Australian Government conducted a new Canberra Matrix invitation round on May 25, 2023. A total of 1,174 invitations were issued to Canberra Residents and Overseas Applicants. Out of all candidates invited to apply for ACT (Australian Immigration Capital Territory) nominations, 433 were issued to residents of Canberra and 741 invitations to Overseas Applicants. The total ITAs issued on 25 May 2023 were higher than the first Canberra Matrix invitation round held on January 23, 2023, and the second Canberra Matrix invitation round held on February 22, 2023.

Australian Immigration Capital Territory (ACT) issued 1,174 invitations to candidates registered under the following streams:

According to the 2022-2023 Allocation of ACT Nomination Pages:

  • Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) visa: 2,025 places.
  • Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491) visa: 2,025 places.

As of February 22nd Canberra Matrix Invitation Round:

Total Approvals: 3,358 approvals | Subclass 190 - 1,654 approvals | Subclass 491 - 1,704 approvals.

Total Refusals: 559 refusals | Subclass 190 - 186 refusals (10%) | Subclass 491 - 431 refusals (20%).

Remaining Allocation: 692 nomination places (609 per month) | Subclass 190 - 371 (pro rata 327 per month) | Subclass 491 - 321 (pro rata 282 per month).

The ACT has a limited number of nomination places for each month (pro-rata against the annual allocation). The highest ranked Matrix from every occupation in demand in Australia is invited to apply for ACT nomination. The cut-off for selection relies on the remaining monthly allocation, the time, and date of the Matrix submission, occupation cap, and demand. When there is more occupation demand in Australia, the rank of the Matrix score invited is higher.

Note that a minimum ranking score does not guarantee an invitation. The ACT does not respond to the request for information on ranking or the possibility of getting an invitation. The Matrix does not prioritize or issue invitations based on individual circumstances. The invitations will not be given if the candidate has an active application in the system or has previously obtained an ACT nomination.
