India Young Professionals Scheme Visa

UK’s India Young Professionals Scheme Visa allows Indian Citizens between 18 and 30 years old, to live and work in the United Kingdom for up to 24 months. You must be selected in the ballot system before you can apply for this visa. There are 3,000 places available for the India Young Professionals Scheme Visa in 2024.

India Young Professionals Scheme Visa Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the India Young Professionals Scheme Visa, you must:

  • Be an Indian Citizen.
  • Be between 18 and 30 years old.
  • Be at least 18 years old on the date you plan to travel to the UK.
  • Have a qualification at a bachelor’s degree level or above.
  • Have £2,530 (~ INR 2,70,200) in savings to support yourself in the UK.
  • Not have any children under the age of 18 who live with you or are financially dependent on you.

You must first enter and be selected in the ballot system before you can apply for your visa. You are not eligible to apply if you have previously been in the UK under this scheme or the Youth Mobility Scheme visa.

Eligible Qualifications

To apply for this visa, you must have either:

  • A qualification at UK bachelor’s degree level or above, or
  • An equivalent overseas qualification at degree level or above.

You can check with your university/college if you’re not sure what level of qualification you have.

Money to Support Yourself

You must have at least £2,530 (~ INR 2,70,200) in your bank account to support yourself in the UK. You will need to have these funds available for at least 28 days in a row. The 28th day must be within 31 days of applying for the visa.

India Young Professionals Scheme Visa Documents Required

When you apply for the India Young Professionals Scheme Visa, you’ll need to provide:

  • A valid passport or other identity/nationality document.
  • Proof that you have at least £2,530 (~ INR 2,70,200) in your bank account, such as bank statements.
  • Proof of your qualifications.
  • Your tuberculosis (TB) test results if you’re living in India.
  • A police report or clearance certificate from India.

Evidence of Your Qualifications

You will need to provide proof of a qualification at the bachelor's degree level or higher (Regulated Qualifications Framework levels 6, 7, or 8). Your university/college will need to provide written confirmation that you have:

  • Completed your studies, and
  • Graduated with the required qualification.

If your documents are not in English or Welsh, you must provide a certified translation. Depending on your circumstances, you may need to submit additional documents. The Home Office will contact you if further evidence is required.

How to Apply for India Young Professionals Scheme Visa?

The process to apply for India Young Professionals Scheme Visa is carried out in four easy steps.

STEP 1: You must first enter and be selected in the ballot system.
STEP 2: If you’re successful in the ballot, you will receive an invitation to apply for the visa.
STEP 3: Prepare the documents that you need to apply for this visa.
STEP 4: Apply for the India Young Professional Scheme Visa.

Ballot System

You can enter the ballot if you’re an Indian Citizen and eligible to apply for the India Young Professionals Scheme Visa. You can enter at any time while the ballot is open. To enter, you will need to provide your:

  • Name.
  • Date of birth.
  • Passport details.
  • Scan/Photo of your passport.
  • Phone number.
  • Email address.

You can only submit one entry per person for each ballot. Successful entries are picked at random and the results are sent to your email within 2 weeks of the ballot closing. Entering the ballot is free. You will only need to pay the application fee and other costs involved - if you decide to apply for the visa.

When to Apply?

If you’re successful in the ballot, you’ll need to apply for your visa by the deadline given in your invitation to apply. This is usually 30 days after you get the invitation. Also, since you’re required to provide documents as part of your application, you may need to allow extra time if you need an appointment to do this.

You must immigrate to UK from India within 6 months of applying for the visa. For example, if you apply on 10 July 2024, you must arrive in the UK no later than 09 January 2025.

Getting a Decision.

Once you have applied online and provided all the supporting documents, you will usually get a decision within 3 weeks. If your application processing takes longer, you will be contacted. Reason for delay may include:

  • Your documents need to be verified.
  • You need to attend an interview.
  • Your personal circumstance, for example, criminal convictions.

You may be allowed to pay to get a faster decision on your visa application.

After you Apply.

If successful, you will get an email which will include the decision of your application and the next steps to be followed. You can ask to cancel your application anytime. You will only get your fee refunded if the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has not started processing your application.

To apply for the India Young Professionals Scheme Visa you must pay the following fee:

  • Visa application fee: £298 (~INR 31,840)
  • Healthcare surcharge fee: £1,552 (~INR 1,65,830)
  • Prove that you have at least £2,530 (~ INR 2,70,200) in savings.

Take note: Your application fee will not be refunded if your visa is rejected.

India Young Professionals Scheme Visa Validity

With an India Young Professionals Scheme Visa, you can live and work in the UK for up to 24 months. You can enter and leave the United Kingdom as many times as you want - as long as your visa is valid. You cannot extend your stay.
